What is the NGI Score?
The NGI Score is our independent gym rating system, designed to assess gyms using consistent criteria beyond standard public reviews.
Why I Created It
Google Reviews don’t always tell the full story. The NGI Score gives gym-goers a clearer view of equipment, facilities, value, atmosphere and overall experience.
How It Works
Each gym is assessed across key areas including cleanliness, equipment variety, layout, size and atmosphere. These scores combine to create a clear rating out of 10.

8.1 – 8.9Above Average
7 – 8Average
0 – 6.9Below Average
Independent & Consistent
NationalGymIndex does not accept payment in exchange for higher NGI Scores. Every gym is reviewed using the same framework so users can compare gyms fairly.
